What to expect

Doctor and pet

Your First Visit

At the Rockaway Beach Veterinary Services we realize your time is valuable so we try very hard to adhere to our schedule, so your wait time will be minimal.  For your first visit we ask that you arrive approximately five minutes early so that we can set up your pet’s file and your pet’s medical record.  If you would like to minimize the wait time for this process, please download our new patient form below and bring it with you.

For your convenience, feel free make a list of questions that your veterinarian can answer during your pet’s examination.

The doctor you will be seeing will perform a complete physical examination and will make every effort to address the reason for your visit, as well as answering any questions you may have.  If your first visit is with a new puppy or kitten the doctor will discuss vaccination protocols for both “core” vaccines as well as “lifestyle” or optional vaccines.  The doctor will help you with training advice, husbandry and feeding issues as well as making recommendations about the appropriate time to spay or neuter your pet, which varies from patient to patient.

Our objective with your first encounter with the Rockaway Beach Veterinary Services is to set the stage for a long, fulfilling, and complete companionship between your family and ours.
